Groww

Connect Groww using API key and secret, or TOTP token and secret (no OAuth popup).

Navigation: Brokers › Add new Account › Groww

Prerequisites (Groww Cloud)​

  • Active Groww trading account with API access enabled
  • Open Groww Cloud / API Keys in your Groww account
  • Create either an API key + secret pair (Generate API key) or a TOTP token + secret (Generate TOTP token)
  • For API keys, wait for approval from Groww (unapproved keys fail token generation)
  • Copy the values shown once at creation
  • No OAuth redirect URL is required for Groww
Match the credential type

On Add Broker, choose API Key & Secret or TOTP token & secret to match what you created in Groww Cloud. Mixing them returns “Invalid type”.

If token generation fails with an approval message, complete approval in Groww Cloud before retrying in ATPAlgo.

Step 1 — Open Add Broker and name the account​

  1. Go to Brokers › Add new Account (open Add Broker).
  2. Enter a display name and click Next.

  1. Select Groww from the broker list.
  2. Click Next.

Step 3 — Choose authentication and verify token​

Groww Cloud has two credential types. Pick the matching option on Add Broker — mixing them returns “Invalid type”.

API Key & Secret​

  1. In Groww Cloud choose Generate API key.
  2. Copy the API key and API secret, and wait for Groww to approve the key.
  3. Access tokens expire daily at 6:00 AM IST. Groww Cloud may also require daily key approval.

TOTP token & secret​

  1. In Groww Cloud choose Generate TOTP token (not Generate API key).
  2. Copy the TOTP token and the Base32 TOTP secret — not the 6-digit authenticator code.
  3. TOTP credentials themselves do not expire. The access token still expires daily at 6:00 AM IST.
  4. Without daily auto-connect, tap Connect on My Brokers each morning after expiry.

On the Add Broker form​

  1. Select API Key & Secret or TOTP token & secret to match Groww Cloud.
  2. Paste the matching credentials.
  3. Leave Daily auto-connect on (recommended) so ATPAlgo refreshes the token on a morning schedule (default 08:00 IST). Turn it off if you prefer to tap Connect yourself.
  4. Click Next — ATPAlgo generates today's access token and tests the connection.
  5. If verification fails, fix the key in Groww Cloud and retry.

Step 3: Choose API key or TOTP; token verified on Next.

Step 4 — Finish setup​

  1. On Complete Setup, click Finish Setup.
  2. On My Brokers, confirm status is Connected. If daily auto-connect is on, the token is refreshed on the schedule (My Brokers ⋮ → Automated login). Otherwise tap Connect each morning after 6:00 AM IST.
